Municipal positions (city council, Treasurer/Recorder, and Mayor) are non-partisan and multiple positions across Benton County are up for election in 2022.Municipal positions are a great entry point into government and can be some of the best places to effect positive progressive change in our communities. Consider running yourself or encourage members of your community to run.

A qualified candidate must be a U. S. citizen, an Arkansas resident, live in jurisdiction to be represented at time of filing and throughout term, lawfully registered to vote, and must never have been convicted of embezzlement of public money, bribery, forgery, or other infamous crime.

Any qualified person desiring to be a candidate for municipal office in the General Election to be held on November 8, 2022 must file a Nominating Petition, Affidavit of Eligibility, Petition Affidavit, and Political Practice Pledge with the County Clerk during the filing period: August 3 at 12:00 noon until August 10 at 12:00 noon. Details can be found on the County Clerk's website.

For a City of the First Class, the Petition must contain signatures from not less than thirty (30) qualified electors of the city in which the candidate files. For a City of the Second Class or Incorporated Town, the Petition must contain signatures from not less than ten (10) qualified electors of the city in which the candidate files.  Signature collection began on May 12th.
